2017년 5월 22일부터 27일까지 다녀온 태국 여행기입니다.
벌써 태국에 온지 3일째가 되었네요. 아직 똠양꿍을 못 먹어 본게 생각이 나서 똠양꿍을 찾으러 카오산로드로 나가봅니다.
태국 현지의 똠양꿍
미리 검색 해 보고 간건 아니고요. 일단 카오산로드로 가서 아무 식당이나 들어가서 똠양꿍을 파는지 물어보고 들어 갔습니다. 우리의 선택은 ‘Wanderlust’ 라는 가게인데요. 와이프가 먼저 들어가서 주문할 준비를 하고 있네요.
바 같은 느낌의 식당입니다. 밤 장사가 우선인데, 낮에는 식당도 하는 느낌? 일단 카오산로드의 이 거리는 밤이되면 모두 술을 판매하니까요.
메뉴가 많습니다. 나중에 태국 식당을 자주 가면서 알게 된 사실인데, 태국 식당 대부분이 이렇게 많은 메뉴들이 있더라고요. 거의 비슷한 레이아웃에 비슷한 이미지 구도에 꼭 저렇게 숫자들이 적혀 있습니다. 외국인이 쉽게 주문하라는 배려인 것 같네요. ㅎ
우리는 여기 온 목표인 3번 똠양꿍과 21번 스파이시 글라스 누들 샐러드를 주문해 봅니다. Spicy Glass Noodles Salad 뭔진 모르겠지만 일단 배가 많이 안 고프다는 와이프의 의견에 뭔가 샐러드같은거라 생각하고 주문 해 봅니다. (사진으로는 뭐든 잘 모르겠습니다. 다 처음 접하는 음식이라.)
제가 콜라를 즐겨 마시는 편이라 콜라도 하나 주문했더니 코카콜라가 아닌 태국 콜라가 나오네요. 코카콜라가 나올 줄 알고 주문했는데!!!
똠양꿍이 나왔습니다. 생각보다 좀 빨리 나오네요. 아주 깨끗한 그릇에 아주 깔끔하게 나왔습니다. 이 때만 해도 현지에서 먹어보는 똠양꿍이 처음이라 기대감만 가득했던 것 같습니다.
태국에서는 우동 숟가락 같은 이런 숟가락을 줍니다. 국수집 가도 그렇고, 어느 식당을 가든 대부분 이런 숟가락을 쓰더라고요. 일회용 처럼 얇고 가볍게 생겼는데, 일회용은 아니더라는!! ㅎ
뭔가 국물만 한가득 준 것 같은데? 라고 생각하면 한 숟가락 떠 보니 그래도 아래쪽에 건더기가 꽤 있었습니다. 뒤에 와이프가 새우 건져 가고 있죠!!! 내 새우!!!
21번 메뉴가 나왔습니다. 스파이시 글래스 누들 샐러드. 아하, 당면이 들어간 매콤한 샐러드 정도 될 것 같네요. 글래스 누들이 당면이구나..!! 라고 깨달음을 얻습니다. (영어 공부 좀..)
많이 맵지는 않았고요, 사진에서처럼 새우도 들어 가 있네요. 나중에 알았지만 태국 요리에서 새우는 엄청나게 자주 사용하는 식재료고, 많은 메뉴에 자주 들어가더라고요. 여기저기 일단 다 넣고 보는 느낌? ㅎ 그래도 꽤 살이 있는 새우를 사용하는 것 같습니다.
제가 당면을 좋아해서 이 메뉴도 좋았던 것 같습니다. 근데 사진으로만 봐도 대충 어떤 맛인지 느껴지지 않습니까? 지금 느끼시는 딱 그 맛입니다. 먹을만 했던 메뉴입니다.
뭔가 새우파티 하는 느낌이네요. 당면 좀 건져 먹었더니 새우만 한가득 남게되는 풍경이.. ㅎ 와이프가 새우는 잘 먹는 편이라 많이 넘겨 줍니다.
같은 것 같지만 약간 다른 새우가 들어 가 있네요. 그래도 새우가 큼지막하고 식감도 꽤 있는 편이라 좋았습니다. 얼핏 같은 새우인 줄 알았네요. ㅎ 하나는 약간 더 벌어진 새우입니다.
순삭!! 클리어!! 샐러드는 와이프가 아주 잘 먹었고요, 똠양꿍은 제가 완샷 때렸습니다. 현지에서 먹는 똠양꿍은 확실히 맛의 깊이가 더 있습니다. 향도 아주 진하고요. 위치는 지금 검색 해 보니 제대로 나오는 가게가 없습니다. 카오산로드 어딘가에 보이는 매장에 들어 간거라. 카오산로드로 가세요!! 똠양꿍을 드세요!!
