방콕여행 1일차. 람부뜨리에서 만난 탄두리 치킨

2017년 11월 21일부터 26일까지 다녀온 방콕 여행기입니다.
파쑤멘 요새 공원에서 셀프웨딩 촬영 후 호텔로 들어가기 전에 와이프가 데리고 가고 싶은 음식점이 있다고 합니다. 제가 카레를 엄청나게 좋아하거든요. 인도식 정통 요리를 먹으러 가자고 합니다. 우리는 정장과 드레스가 들어 있는 캐리어를 그대로 들고 람부뜨리로 향합니다.

 

인도식 레스토랑 – Santi Indian Restaurant

람부뜨리 로드가 끝나는 코너 골목 쪽으로 왔습니다. 여기를 몇 번 지나다녔지만 2층을 올려다 본 적은 없어서 음식점이 있는지도 몰랐는데요. 방콕은 높은 건물이 없어서 위로는 잘 안보는 것 같습니다. ‘Santi Indian Restaurant’ 라고 큰 간판이 걸려 있는데도 눈치도 못 챘었네요.

 

여기가 정확하게 람부뜨리(Ram Buttri)와 소이 람부뜨리(Soi Ram Butri)가 만나는 지점이네요. 람부뜨리가 끝나고, 소이 람부뜨리 로드가 시작되는 지점에 위치하고 있습니다. 자세한 지도는 맨 아래 구글 맵을 참고하시기 바랍니다.

 

2층 올라가는 계단에도 ‘Indian Food’라고 간판이 걸려 있습니다. 어두워서 잘 몰랐는데, 와이프 얼굴이 살짝 나와서 스티커를 붙였습니다.

 

2층은 창문쪽을 아예 다 터 놔서 아주 시원스러웠습니다. 우리 외에도 외국인들이 식사를 하는 중이네요. 앞에 와이프가 자리를 잡으러 가고 있습니다. 전체적인 인테리어는 인도스럽다고 해야하나, 태국스럽다고 해야하나. 이렇게 보니 거기서 거기인 것 같더라고요.

 

인디언 아저씨가 서 있습니다. 음.. 근데 인도(India) 사람을 인디언이라고 한다는데, 여기는 아메리칸 인디언이.. 이거 맞는건가요? 제가 헷갈리는건가요. 당시에는 너무 자연스러워서 눈치 못 챘는데, 인도 음식점에 인디언이 있는게 좀 이상하네요.

 

인테리어가 좀 독특하기는 합니다. 태국 음식점 어디를 가도 다 특이한 것 같은데 여기는 인도의 분위기를 내려고 한 것 같기도 하고.. 어쨌든 카오산로드나 람부뜨리에서 가 봤던 음식점들하고는 분위기가 좀 다릅니다.

 

자리를 잡고 앉으니 아주 귀엽게 꽃 화병이 놓여져 있네요.

 

메뉴판을 봅니다. Santi Indian Restaurant 메뉴판입니다.

 

역시 일반적인 태국음식의 메뉴판과는 다르네요. 메뉴 실 사진들이 3~4열로 크게 박혀 있을 줄 알았는데!! 글씨가 한가득 있습니다. 간간히 실사진이 있긴한데.. 하나하나 읽어 봅니다. 하지만 우리가 알고 있는 인도 음식은 한정적이라서 알고 있는 것들을 주문하게 되어 있네요. 우선 우측 하단에 DAAL FRIED 설명을 보니 커리(Curry)라고 되어 있어서 37번을 선택했고요.

 

다음 장에서는 우리가 잘 아는 메뉴가 등장ㅇ합니다. 86번에 탄두리 치킨(Tandoori Chicken)이 보입니다. 메뉴가 끝도없이 이어집니다. 현재 보이는게 89번인데, 뒷장에 더 있어요. 맙소사. 앞 장의 커리와 란, 그리고 탄두리 치킨 이정도로 주문 해 봅니다.

 

음료가 제일 먼저 나오더라고요. 밀크티 종류를 주문했던 것 같아요. 오묘하게 맛있었습니다.

 

란과 커리, 탄두리 치킨이 나왔습니다. 사진으로 봐도 아주 색이 진하니 맛도 진할 것 같죠? 실제로 그렇습니다. ㅎ

 

탄두리 치킨은 냄새부터 찐한 탄두리 향이 났습니다. 옆에 녹색 소스도 독특했고요. 아주 깊은 맛의 탄두리 치킨이었습니다. 역시 태국에서 먹는 모든 음식은 향신료가 엄청 세게 들어갑니다. 근데 와이프도 맛있다고 잘 먹더라고요. 향은 쎘지만 확실히 맛은 있었습니다.

 

커리인데요. 치킨이 들어 가 있습니다. 덩어리들 조금씩 보이시죠? 커리는 제 입맛에 딱 맞았어요. 향이 엄청 쎈 커리라고 해야 하나.

 

란을 찍어 먹으니 더 맛있더라고요. 란 크기도 엄청 큰게 커리에 찍어 먹기 딱 좋았습니다.

 

커리와 탄두리 치킨 모두 향도 쎄고, 맛도 쎄서 밥을 달라고 했습니다. 엄청 많이 주시네요. 밥하고 먹으니 꽤 괜찮아 졌습니다.

 

탄두리 치킨 옆에 녹색 소스 역시 향이 엄청 쎘습니다. 근데 맛도 톡톡 튀는 것이 의외로 탄두리 치킨에 잘 어울리더라고요.

 

이렇게 아주 쌔빨간 탄두리 치킨을 완전 녹색인 소스에 찍어서 먹었습니다. 이렇게 한 입 먹고 나면 밥을 꼭 먹어야 하더라고요. 엄청 쎈데 멈출 수가 없는 맛! 지금 포스팅하면서도 입에 침이 고이네요.

 

방콕 카오산로드 근처 람부뜨리에서 진정한 탄두리 치킨과 아주 진한 커리를 맛보고 싶으시면 여기로 가세요. 리뷰가 100개 넘어가는데(2018년 12월 3일 시점), 평점이 4.4점이면 후기가 아주 좋은 식당인건 확실합니다.
